honest.aero is operated by Airplane Parts Direct LLC.
Every other aircraft-parts database gates its market data behind a subscription aimed at sellers — thousands of dollars a year to see what anyone else paid for a part. We think the buyer googling a part number at 11pm before a procurement meeting deserves a straight answer, for free. So we publish it: real low/median/high price ranges by condition, built from the actual vendor quotes our own sourcing desk collects — never a single vendor’s number, never a list price dressed up as a market rate.
If the numbers we publish tell you a part is worth sourcing elsewhere, that’s fine — that’s the point. If you’d rather not chase it yourself, request a quote and our desk will go get it at the honest end of the range.
Who’s behind this
Austin Stout operates Airplane Parts Direct LLC, an FAA-ecosystem aircraft parts brokerage. The price ranges, lead times, and demand data published on honest.aero come directly from that desk’s own sourcing activity — RFQs sent, quotes received, parts moved.
How a page gets published
Nothing here is generated and posted. The evidence behind a part page is assembled programmatically — quotes matched to the exact part number, grouped by condition, filtered by the rules on our methodology page — and the prose is drafted against that evidence and nothing else. Every factual sentence is then checked against the evidence it cites, and any figure that does not appear in the underlying data fails the check.
A page stays a draft, unlisted and not indexed, until Austin Stout reads it and signs it off. That signature is a person taking responsibility for the numbers, and it is the last step before anything becomes public.
